Bossy advertising doesn’t work

As I was leaving my local shopping centre, tired and laden down with bags, just wanting to get myself home to a cuppa tea, a Bex and a good lie down, I was flabbergasted to see this sign on the exit doors. ‘This is not goodbye. Keep shopping at Westfield.com.au/centres. Now buy online. Westfield. In centre. Buy online. Mobile.’ Or rather, more like this.
‘THIS IS NOT GOODBYE. KEEP SHOPPING AT WESTFIELD.COM.AU/CENTRES. NOW BUY ONLINE. WESTFIELD. IN CENTRE. BUY ONLINE. MOBILE.’
Now, I don’t know about you, but I personally find this quite bossy. My first thought is ‘Don’t tell ME what to do!’ Nobody likes to be told what to do. Suggestions are fine. Orders? Not so good. Whoever came up with this gem might want to think again. I prefer the Big W approach. Nice to know someone still knows how to say please and thank you…
